Whose Justice Is It?

Self-defense is protecting yourself, loved ones, or property from an immediate threat. Vigilantes, from the Spanish word for "guards", catch and punish suspected criminals without going through the legal system. Vigilante justice is often more about revenge than self-defense.

What do you know about vigilante justice, or taking the law into your own hands?

No one should be able to take matters into their own hands. That is what the government for, they are here to protect us. We made a government to protect ourselves, to protect our families, to protect our rights. Now if you were to, go kill a man who committed a crime it would be classified as murder. And said Vigilante would be charged with murder, and maybe manslaughter.

    1. I agree with you because I fell that even if you want something to happen or to take matters into your own hands, there were rules made for a purpose.

  2. I believe that vigilante justice is somewhat good. Some people have there family members murdered or sexually assaulted, which makes them angry at the person who did it. But the person escaped out of they country before they could trial them. So the person defies justice and goes out of the country do get revenge. Some vigilanties only do things because they were so called perhaps unsolved case because all the evidence is a single eyewitness. They go after defying justice and get them. There are many good and bad vigilantes. It all depends who or what they ware fighting for.

  3. Being a vigilante means to take your own justice/problems and make it how you want it to turn it in how you want it. Like Batman, the Joker killed his parents and he became a vigilante to turn his own justice. Also, you could go through the harder way and become nasty lawyer, and turn peoples problems the way they want it to turn out. Being a vigilante is a long and hard road to travel on, and to turn them right that's even harder. It could be anyone's justice, but you have to make it right or try to make it right in your own way's.

  4. When it comes to vigilante justice. I believe that yes it is ok to but only to a certain extreme. If someone kills your family and you go out on a search and you find him and kill him. Then your know better then they guy who did it. But if you go and find him and make him pay for what he did by sending him to the cops then thats ok because your pretty much doing their job to you standards though. So yes it is ok for vigilante justice but only to a certain degree.

  5. I don't real know anything about vigilante justice. I don't think that people should take the law into their own hands because our country would be to out of control. Self-defense is okay, but revenge violently is not. You shouldn't be able to do anything and get away with it. I thin that taking the law in your own hands is to risky and people should be punished for it.

    1. I agree with all you said especially with taking the law into our own hands. This country would get out of control. People wouldn't be easily trusted. It's like you do one thing wrong you would be going against the law.

  6. I don’t really know what taking the law into your own hands mean. But i believe by taking the law into your own hands you are willing to be at risk. You would be at risk by doing things against the law and going against it. Taking the law into your own hands is really serious. Since it could easily get caught for breaking the law.

  7. When it comes to vigilante justice, I know thats its a group that undertakes law enforcement with our legal authority. My opinion on this is that, taking the law into your own hands can become very dangerous and can get out of control. The government is here to help us, so there is no need for anyone to do this.

  8. Vigilante is basically getting someone back.I don't know why, but I seen a lot of cases dealing with vigilante justice using for self defense. Some people don't use vigilante justice, like my mom. My mom is a nice, non-getting revenge person. I understand if you don't like it vigilante justice, but it's messed up if you do.

  9. Vigilante justice can be very brutal. Although a lot of us would want to be for it, it isnt fair. It's for savages. I think that, although many of us would want to apply to USA, it is a good thing it doesn't. Many people would get hurt and killed for things that they may have not done.

  10. vigilante is not fair, there is a reason why we cops and a hole legal system and its not fair for people to think they are above it and take matters in to there own hands. And they are doing it for there own personal reasons because if they did just want to help there are plenty of other ways to help with out hurting people. And its not there place to say if what the person is doing is right or wrong threw there own opinion innocent people could get hurt and make them look bad even if they were just trying to help.

    2. Sometimes vigilantism can help get stuff done that the rules sometimes protect, which is wrong

    3. I agree with you because justice should be left to cops and legal system, not to your own reasons.

  11. If you are a vigilante then you catch someone to bring them to justice. They should not be considered bad for manly one reason. If they caTCH SOMEONE THEN ITS COSIDERED THEY ARE PROTECTING there family because who knows that person could have harmed his or her family. Self defense only counts if the other person lays there hands on the other person first. but think it shouldn't matter

  12. I believe that Honest vigilantism (i.e. Not Revengefully) is A Good thing. Like Batman or Spider-Man, Able to do what Police can't. SuperHeroes are the Best example I was able to think and Relate to.

  13. Vigilantism can be useful because of that old saying rules were ment to be broken sometimes can mean something cause the rules we live by are not always the best way that's why sometimes it takes extreme measures to get the job done.

  14. I disagree with vigilantism, I believe that it should be left to the law and under no situation do I think that vigilantism should take place. Not only is it placing the vigilante himself in danger but, also it is placing citizens in danger. I think that vigilantism should be treated as a crime and the he/she should be prosecuted for it.

  15. i think vigialante justice is not ok because the police is suppose to protect the streets and the citizens live there. but in some cases you might feel the right to take justice in your own hands because you think the law is not fair. but in other cases its not ok.

  16. I think vigilante justice is ok as long as you know what your doing, If you don't then it can become very dangerous and you could be badly injured while trying to bring someone to justice. It's the police's job to bring them to justice not yours. But if you think you can handle it and not knowing what can happen then go for it
